We do not know much about the large lizards of the time when dinosaurs were present. Because we have diverse content about the creatures of that era. But a newly found lizard in the national monument of Utah is going to change everything we know about them. Apparently an armoured monster saurian lizard used to visit Roam with the dinosaurs at the grand staircase Escalante national monument.
The size of the lizard was equal to a raccoon. The Gila monster is the predecessor of this large lizard. For anyone who doesn’t know what a Gila monster is, basically it is a venomous kind of lizard which was found in the south west of America and north west of Mexico.
Apparently, we do not have much information about the large lizards of the time when dinosaurs were present. But this discovery is going to give us some idea about the diversity and reversing of these creatures across the continent.
Hank Woolley is a researcher of the National history Museum which is present in Los Angeles county. It is a dinosaur Institute. Whenever someone needs to study dinosaurs, they tend to go there. That is where the researcher found the bones of the lizard. This is what we get from his press conference.
According to him there is not much that is holding information for us regarding the lizards which had large bodies. We don’t even know when the exact time and these lizards were present. That’s why it holds a really significant level for us.
The lizard was identified from the pieces of its skeleton. Which included the skull, girdles, body armour, vertebra and limbs. The bony armour is what the scientists are calling osteoderms. It amazes me to think that at that time of the dinosaurs these kinds of mysterious yet amazing creatures were present.
We do not know what kind of fossils we are going to find yet but there is one thing that we are sure of, and that is apparently large. A Lot of creatures are still missing From our archives and knowledge.
The specimen is what we call bolg amondol. We did not find the bones incomplete whole form but they are kind of fragments. All of the other big lizards that were found in fossils included only fragments of their body parts but this one is completely different.
The most interesting fact of this large armoured lizard is that it is fragmentary but we have a complete sample of its skeleton. Which was preserved amazingly. We do not find any kind of overlapping bones. There is no evidence of two walls present in the one left hip skeleton. It does not include anything like that in the fossil. So that’s why it is giving us confidence that these remain out of single specimens. There is no more to talk about.
